None of Those

Whom or what to blame for the insanity of the Yellow Wallpaper's woman? One might think of someone − Dr. Silas Weir Mitchell, the husband, the husband's sister, the brother, or something − patriarchy, confinement, rest cure, attitude toward mental illnesses. What if it was none of those?

In the depths of her insanity, the narrator finds a peculiar solace, perceiving it as a self-imposed liberation. She valiantly defends her mind, which refuses to quiet its tumultuous thoughts. Her mind has made its choice, and there is no retreat. This unyielding rebellion renders any treatment futile, a testament to her indomitable will.
